I am so excited to begin my new role as President and CEO of Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH), and I wanted to reach out to introduce myself, tell you a little bit about what I’ll initially be focusing on, and how we can work together to make it a reality.
But first, I would be remiss without acknowledging the hard work done by SRH’s interim CEO Andrée Robichaud over the past seven months. Her leadership has established a solid foundation among our team and in the community. I look forward to building on her work and wish her all the best as she returns to her roots to live in New Brunswick and begins a well-deserved retirement.
A little about me
As you may know, my background includes more than 30 years of health care experience, both in Ontario and in British Columbia. I am an emergency and critical care nurse by training and have had the privilege of serving in senior leadership positions for more than 20 years. In all of my clinical and administrative roles, delivering high-quality, patient and family centred care has been of the utmost importance to me.
As well, I believe that each and every team member – from staff, to physicians, volunteers, and students – has an essential role to play in contributing to our success. It’s my job, along with members of the senior leadership team, to provide you with the tools and information you need to thrive and innovate at SRH.
Equally imperative to me is meaningful engagement with our community and our partners. The voices and perspectives of these individuals and groups are vital in helping us find solutions to the complex issues hospitals face. For SRH, these relationships will also be integral to the future success of our newly-merged hospital.
Some of my initial priorities
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be meeting with our many internal and external stakeholders to learn more about the vibrant and diverse community that is Scarborough. I’m fortunate to be able to benefit from the team’s hard work over the last seven months. My focus will also be to continue the efforts of standardizing our operations and the way we provide care, while integrating the community’s voice to meet the unique needs of each and every patient.

We strive to provide an outstanding care experience to all our patients, but we can’t do that without your feedback. Over the coming months, I will be meeting with many of our community-based partners in care and will host engagement sessions for all community members to attend.
