Excellent local health care is a crucial component of any community, and across Toronto our hospitals are doing an impressive job of providing the best care to a global community. That’s why, once again, the week of April 24 to 30 has been declared Community Hospitals Week.
Toronto residents can take great pride in the health care they have access to, and that’s what Community Hospitals Week is all about, celebrating the exceptional care provided by Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH) and all of the hospitals in the GTA. The fact is sometimes overlooked, but when they need it, residents can be sure they will receive care from top-rated doctors, with access to a full spectrum of programs and have the convenience of receiving trusted care, close to home.
“Community hospitals play a vital role in ensuring Canadian health care is the envy of the world, but that fact is sometimes taken for granted,” said Michael Mazza, President and CEO, of Scarborough and Rouge Hospital Foundation. “That’s why Community Hospitals Week serves as an excellent reminder of the importance of great health care close to home.”
Along with Toronto’s Mayor John Tory recognizing this annual event, SRH is featured in the Metroland special section being distributed in their April 20th editions across the city. This section is an opportunity to read highlights of the many ways Toronto has access to the best health care, right here where you live. It’s about highly skilled medical professionals, state-of-the-art facilities and remarkable equipment being used to improve and even save lives.
In the past, SRH’s cardiac care, maternal and newborn programs and commitment to serving a diverse population have been featured in past and this year the hospital’s innovative dialysis program is highlighted. Be sure to find the section in your local Metroland paper, enjoy the stories and learn more about the wide range of programs, as told from the view of the medical staff and the patients who have benefitted from the excellent care they received in their community. You may be surprised to learn that you don’t have to go far to find the health care you need. And learn more about how your support is making these hospitals the best that they can be.
