The Scarborough Hospital was the first hospital in Ontario to establish a home-like birthing unit. With close to 6,000 deliveries each year, the Family Maternity Centre has an excellent reputation for high-quality care in a culturally sensitive atmosphere.

We provide private labour-delivery-recovery rooms and after the birth of your baby you will be moved to the room of your choice. Our Birchmount campus offers women the option of physician or midwife support throughout pregnancy and birth.

Unique features of the Family Maternity Centre include:

• Private, home-like rooms equipped with a birthing bed, baby bassinet, rocker/glider chair, and cot or recliner for mom’s significant other or support person.
• Jacuzzis and many options for pain management including patient controlled epidural analgesia, labour balls, massage therapy.
• One-on-one nursing support throughout active labour.
