The General Internal Medicine (GIM) Program is a fluid program that provides services throughout the Medical Units at the General campus.  It is designed to provide multidisciplinary coordinated care for medically complex patients whose diagnoses do not fall under a specific speciality.

Patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and some are transferred from specialty areas such as Intensive Care Unit and Cardiology.

Several physicians support the GIM program on a rotational basis with transfer of care between physicians occurring weekly.  Continuity of care and coordination is provided by a clinical nurse specialist and a nurse clinician.
