The Scarborough Hospital has unveiled brand new Mission, Vision and Values to help guide the evolution of the organization for the next five years. This is more than just a document—it is an affirmation of what we do (our Mission), what we want our future to look like (our Vision), and what we believe in (our Values). It will be the lens through which we look at our organization and make critical decisions about where to allocate our time, attention and resources. View our "It’s a new day" video to see what our staff, physicians and volunteers say about the Mission, Vision and Values.

The timing of the launch of the new Mission, Vision and Values is significant. For the past two years, The Scarborough Hospital has been undergoing a major transformation. We have been focused on improving our patient safety indicators, many of which are publicly posted here on our website. Last April, for example, we were proud to be named the top hospital in Ontario for our hand hygiene compliance rates

We have also worked very diligently to strengthen our relationships with our many community partners. One of our goals is to make community engagement and consultation an integral part of the way we function.

The hospital has also grown to help meet the healthcare needs of our expanding community. Last summer we opened our brand new West Wing at the General campus, which is now home to a larger, more modern Emergency Department and Critical Care Centre.

We live in the most multicultural community in the world, and we believe our Mission, Vision and Values reflect our commitment to accept, respect and embrace diversity. It is about recognizing all the ways we are different which can include, but is not limited to: culture, language, gender, disability, or religious or sexual orientation.

Achieving our Mission and Vision is an ongoing process, and we welcome your comments and suggestions.
