The Scarborough Hospital’s (TSH) Maternal Newborn and Child Care Program provides exceptional family centred care to women and their families. Both campuses offer home-like birthing units with a single-room approach to care, providing labour, delivery, recovery and post partum suites, which continue to enhance the delivery of care to our growing urban community.

The Scarborough Hospital was the first hospital in Ontario to establish a home-like birthing unit. With close to 6,000 deliveries each year, the Family Maternity Centre has an excellent reputation for high-quality care in a culturally sensitive atmosphere.

NICU
For babies born at 32 weeks and above who need around-the clock care for concerns like difficulty breathing, infections, or trouble with feeding, a higher level of care is available in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at TSH. Nurseries operate as Level II facilities, and are staffed by specially trained nurses and pediatricians.
