Patrick is a senior executive with 18 years of experience in all aspects of corporate law. Since 2003, Patrick has served as Vice President, Legal Affairs on the Canadian executive team for GlaxoSmithKline Inc. In this capacity, Patrick leads GSKs Legal Affairs division and is responsible for the companys Internal Control Framework and its commitment to performance with integrity and strong corporate governance. In addition to his role as Corporate Secretary, Patrick also sits on the Pension Committee and Chairs GSKs Risk Management and Compliance Board.
Patrick has been with GSK for the past nine years and, prior to his most recent appointment, Patrick was General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Director, Federal Policy at GSK. In that role Patrick led the development of the companys corporate governance framework and several public policy initiatives with a focus on Intellectual Property protection and relationships with Health Canada, Industry Canada and other Federal Government departments.
Before joining GSK, Patrick practiced law for a number of years with two Toronto-based law firms specializing in Corporate Finance and Corporate Health Law.
Patrick studied Public Policy and Administration at York University, obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and his Chartered Directors Designation from The Directors College at McMaster Universitys DeGroote School of Business.
