TORONTO (November 15, 2010) — With the belief that patients deserve an outstanding care experience that meets their unique needs, The Scarborough Hospital Foundation launches its Season of Giving campaign today, National Philanthropy Day, a day that shows the world that the spirit of giving is alive and well, and stronger than ever.
“Philanthropy can achieve extraordinary things,” says Michael Mazza, TSH Foundation President & CEO, “and when our community comes together to invest in excellent healthcare at The Scarborough Hospital, lives are saved. Donations truly are the gifts that keep on giving.”
The Foundation’s Season of Giving campaign aims to educate the community that the hospital has its own charity, and that strong communities build strong hospitals. But it isn’t just a fundraising effort; the campaign gives patients and families the opportunity to give thanks to their hospital caregivers—physicians, nurses and other frontline staff, and volunteers—by filling in gift tags that are then posted in departments throughout the hospital. The Hospital and Foundation also gives thanks to its volunteers, who give of themselves throughout the year.
