The Corporate Communications team at The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) has earned three APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, recognizing the work of professional communicators from across North America and beyond.

The entire team was honoured for the “It’s a new day” video, produced last year to launch the hospital’s new Mission, Vision and Values. The video, featuring staff, physicians, volunteers and board members from TSH, is available online.

Communications Specialist Tracy Huffman and Corporate Communications Manager Dave Bourne won for the best One-to-Two Person Produced Website in the Web & Intranet category. They collaborated on the development of TSH’s new website, and continue to evolve the site’s content to meet the needs of the community.

Bourne was also honoured in the Health and Medical Campaigns and Programs category for the communications plan that helped TSH achieve the highest rate of hand hygiene compliance in Ontario last year.

These three APEX awards are in addition to the OVATION Award of Excellence presented by the Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators in May. The OVATION award also recognized the communication support for the highly successful hand hygiene campaign.

“It’s wonderful to see the high-calibre work of our Corporate Communications department being recognized with these awards,” says Anne Marie Males, Vice President of Patient Experience at The Scarborough Hospital. “These awards showcase our commitment to excellence, which is one of the hospital’s key values.”
