TSH social work department offers a staff of professional registered social workers.  Our social work services are accessible to all patients of the hospital and their families in order to facilitate their adjustment to the social and emotional outcomes of illness, and to facilitate their access to needed health and social services in the community.  Our focus is to develop, restore, maintain and/or enhance optimal well-being and the ability to cope with health related issues.

The principle functions of the social worker department include:

• Completing psychosocial assessments
• Discharge planning
• Individual, marital and/or family counselling and education
• Advocating for patients and family needs
• Multidisciplinary collaboration regarding programs and case management
• Providing mediation and conflict resolution services.
