TSH participates in Neighbourhood Action Partnership event

Building strong partnerships with groups and agencies throughout our community is an important way The Scarborough Hospital is working to embed a diversity and equity lens into every fabric of our institution.

On November 24, the hospital made an important connection with residents in the Steeles L’Amoreaux area by participating in the community’s Neighbourhood Action Partnership (NAP) Community Speak event.

The Steeles L’Amoreaux NAP is a strategic network of local residents, city services and related institutions, community agencies, faith groups, and other stakeholders who live, work or operate within the area bordered by Victoria Park to Kennedy and Sheppard to Steeles. The NAP works to increase the amount of services and resources available to the community, improves the effectiveness of existing services, and builds stronger links with local residents.

In addition to an evening of food, prizes and fun, Community Speak events focus on a particular theme. The November 24 event focused on health care, including residents’ experiences with health care services in Scarborough and the additional health supports they require.

“This is the first time The Scarborough Hospital has partnered with the Steeles L’Amoreaux Neighbourhood Action Partnership and we found it an excellent way to engage with this particular community, many of whom are of Asian descent,” said TSH’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Stakeholder Outreach Waheeda Rahman.

“Our goal was to gain a greater understanding of the gaps in health services for the individuals living in this neighbourhood, and to learn from the residents the kinds of health supports, information, and resources they would like to know more about that TSH might be able to provide to them and others in the healthcare system.”
