Each year, The Scarborough Hospital upgrades equipment due to wear and tear, technological improvements and new, innovative ways to diagnose, treat and care for patients. The Government of Ontario pays for the operations of hospitals, like utilities and salaries, but 100 percent of equipment is paid for by donations made to hospital foundations.

In the next year, The Scarborough Hospital Foundation will raise $3.65 million for urgently needed medical equipment.

The Scarborough Hospital Foundation is a registered charity and was established in 1999 following the amalgamation of The Scarborough General Hospital and The Scarborough Grace Hospital (now the Birchmount campus). Governed by a volunteer board of respected business professionals from the community, The Scarborough Hospital Foundation supports the Birchmount campus, the General campus and The Scarborough Hospital’s six satellite sites.

The Foundation is fortunate and grateful to have the generous support from many patients, family members, staff, physicians, volunteers, community members and corporations. The Scarborough Hospital Foundation can be reached by phone, mail or in-person. Hours of operation are: Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Please drop your donation off at the Cashier Office in either hospital campus (click here for addresses), or donate securely online or call 416.431.8130.

Community support for The Scarborough Hospital continues to be essential. Our goal is to support the healthcare needs of the community of Scarborough by ensuring that The Scarborough Hospital has the resources it requires to provide an outstanding care experience that meets the unique needs of each and every patient.

This means better service, faster diagnosis and treatment close to home. Our healthcare team can do that with the right tools. Your donations make this possible. With your support, we are making great strides, purchasing the equipment that will best meet your healthcare needs.

Last year, the Foundation launched several new fundraising initiatives, hosted new events for our donors and community, and celebrated the purchase of more than 1,500 pieces of new equipment. With the support of the community, almost $3 million was granted to The Scarborough Hospital to achieve this goal.

This year, we will continue to fundraise to purchase critical items such as Laparoscopy Towers and Surgical Instruments. These particular items allow doctors to operate with smaller incisions which leads to faster recovery times and a significantly better patient experience. Less recovery time helps to reduce waiting lists and allows recovery to be in the comfort of your own home.
