The Medicine/Telemetry Units are equipped with portable heart monitors to provide care to patients with medical conditions related to the heart.  Patients on the Medicine/Telemetry Units will continue to receive treatment for their cardiac disease and will be under the care of cardiologists and specially trained nurses. While on this unit, patients learn their risk factors for recurring heart problems, as well as how to manage stress, conserve energy, and make their diet heart-healthy. Also during this time, patients steadily increase levels of activity to begin the recovery process and prepare to return home.

Patients’ discharge planning is a crucial component to TSH’s organizational focus. This process provides an in-depth education package for cardiac patients to take home.  Prior to discharge, patients meet with a pharmacist to prepare a medication schedule, learn how or when to administer medication, and to identify if their medication is ineffective, and when to visit the Hospital for treatment. Patients also receive educational resources to take home.
