The Thoracic Diagnostic Assessment Program (DAP) is a key component of the Central East Regional Thoracic Program providing patients with lung cancer timely access to high quality, consistent care close to home.
Patients are referred to one of three (3) Thoracic Diagnostic Assessment Units (R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Peterborough Regional Health Centre and here at The Scarborough Hospital).
A nurse navigator works closely with patients and their families, and with other health professionals, to ensure care is coordinated and navigated along an agreed path with all information available to patients when they need it.
The result is timely access to diagnosis and treatment, improved outcomes and an enhanced patient experience along the entire continuum of care, from referral and diagnosis to surgery and recovery.
