’Til I Sleep Program
Change text size: A A A

At TSH, paediatric surgery patients and their parents/caregivers are encouraged to participate in the ‘Til I Sleep program. This program allows a parent to accompany their child in the operating room until the child has been anaesthetized, or "falls asleep".

Introduced in 1997, TSH was the first hospital in the Greater Toronto Area to implement a program of this kind. Parents/caregivers and children visit the hospital prior to scheduled surgery in order to receive a hospital tour and education from a Child Life Specialist.

Approximately 99 per cent of families with children undergoing elective surgery at TSH participate in this program.
