Reasons to give to The Scarborough Hospital Foundation
What does your donation mean to our patients and our community?
It means every 99 minutes a mother holds her newborn baby for the first time. Our Maternal Newborn Department is one of the busiest in the city, delivering almost 6,000 babies each year.
It means more than 3,000 people are able to prevent or delay the need for life-saving dialysis treatment with the help of our nephrology team. We have the largest pre-dialysis program in North America.
It means language is not a barrier to healthcare. The hospital has two full-time interpreters. As well, staff and physicians speak more than 100 languages.
It means our team has the tools they need to save lives when every 75 minutes someone comes into the emergency department with chest pain.
It means disease is diagnosed. The Scarborough Hospital performs more than 4.1 million laboratory tests annually.
It means your child’s fever, your father’s chest pain or your broken arm is attended to quickly. Our emergency department is one of the busiest in the city with more than 97,000 patients each year.
It means 5,931 people see better each year as a result of cataract surgery performed in our Eye Centre, the largest of its kind in Canada.
It means cancer is treated, tonsils are removed, hips and knees are replaced. The hospital performs 76,000 surgical procedures every year.
It means we’re here when you need us.
