Effective December 1, 2016, the Birchmount and General campuses of The Scarborough Hospital and the Centenary campus of Rouge Valley Health System have merged to become one hospital corporation. Our temporary name is Scarborough and Rouge Hospital.
This is an exciting time for health care in Scarborough! By coming together, the new Scarborough and Rouge Hospital will provide patients with better, more equitable access to care and a broader range of services located close to home.
Across SRH, we are working to provide care as one hospital for our patients and community.
We have already taken many important steps, including setting up our governance and leadership structure, developing organizational plans that ensure patient safety and quality of care, and completing our 100-day plan.
Now we are moving forward by establishing best practices and processes for us all to follow. Much of this work is captured in our six-month integration plan, which includes almost 200 activities that build on the progress made with the 100-day plan and help us to standardize and harmonize how we work and provide care.
We are focusing on:
- Collaborating with our community
- Enhancing the patient experience
- Building teams
- Establishing strong systems
