On Friday, April 10, 2015, Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), announced the creation of an Expert Panel to provide recommendations to the MOHLTC that would address infrastructure needs, improvements to access, and the integration of acute health care services in the Scarborough and West Durham region.
On December 18, 2015, the Expert Panel’s recommendations were released. The link to the report can also be found below under Report of the Scarborough-West Durham Panel.
A Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS)-The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) Integration Steering Committee and a Lakeridge Health-RVHS Integration Steering Committee have now been established, comprised of Board members, CEOs, and medical leaders from each of the hospitals. A key priority for these committees is the development of integration proposals to be submitted to the Central East LHIN. To develop the proposals, three working groups have been established: Human Resources, Finance, and Community Engagement and Communications. In addition, two additional working groups are in the process of being established: Governance and Professional Staff. More information can be found below under Integration Steering Committee under Resources and More Information.
The integration proposals were submitted to the Central East LHIN on July 25, 2016 as a formal notice of the hospitals’ intent to integrate. The Central East LHIN’s Board of Directors will review and consider the business cases at their public meeting on August 24, 2016. The targeted date of the integrations is November 1, 2016. The proposals can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
