Election of Annual Members to the Members Nominating Committee
As per the TSH By-laws, Annual Members are to elect three Annual Members to serve on the Members Nominating Committee. Below are paragraph statements on the three individuals being recommended by the Members Nominating Committee for approval at the AGM on June 24, 2014.
Helen is a Scarborough resident and retired as a school principal with the Toronto District School Board with over 20 years’ experience in the field of education. During that time, she developed many skills such as interviewing and hiring staff, marketing, public relations, and worked with a variety of people (staff, parents, and children) as well as the community at large to foster and implement new initiatives.
She is a founding member of “Stand Up Bridletowne”, a community advocacy group working towards improving our community through responsible, reasonable and sustainable redevelopment.
Helen has served on the Members Nominating Committee at TSH for four years and in that capacity has been a member of the interview panel as well as a contributor of recommendations for the improvement of the candidate application process to allow TSH to interview and nominate the best residents to sit on the different Board Committees.
Samar Ghorayeb is the Director of Recruitment Services with Collins Recruitment Group. She is responsible for managing senior search mandates with clients covering the financial services industry. Prior to transferring into human resources, Samar spent 10 years in the banking industry managing high performing teams, budgets, profit and loss and annual audits.
Samar currently serves on the Directors Nominating Committee and has also served on the Members Nominating Committee. During her tenure on these two committees, Samar has learned and gained valuable insight in to the Mission, Vision and Values of The Scarborough Hospital.
Ally Ladak has a particular interest in poverty and environment issues, as well as the services and issues of the disadvantaged. He has over 15 years of volunteer experience including current affiliations with the Self-Help Resource Centre, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Social Services Net and the Art and Culture Committee. Ally’s interests include technology for learning disabled children, education-related legislation and children’s mental health. He is also passionate about de-stigmatizing and removing myths surrounding ADHD. As a CADDAC Board member, Ally’s goals are to promote awareness and provide support to others navigating the everyday challenges of ADHD.
Ally currently serves on the Members Nominating Committee and served on the Advisory Council at Baycrest Hospital in 2011.
