The Hospitalist Program at The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) fosters an interprofessional team approach to the care of medicine inpatients for improved quality care and overall patient experience. The Hospitalist Program serves to meet patient needs through four pillars of service excellence that are embedded in the vision and principles of this model including:

  • Comprehensive care plan development
  • Improved communication between team and patient/family
  • Improved access to care
  • Improved continuity of care

The program places the responsibility for patient care on the interprofessional team where the physician is a full and regular participant on the team. The hospitalists are onsite every day, regularly participating in rounds and conducting family meetings.

TSH is pleased to now host four hospitalist general internal medicine units that provide services across both campuses.  Hospitalists also provide follow-up support for discharged patients in the General Internal Medicine (GIM) clinic.
