As we reflect on our legacy, the past 12 months, and our future, a common theme stands out: The Scarborough Hospital has been – and continues to be – an organization that is “leading for tomorrow;” thus the theme for the joint hospital and Foundation 2015-2016 Report to the Community.
In 1952, the Sisters of Misericorde and the Township of Scarborough, led by Reeve Oliver Crockford, anticipated the need for health care services and oversaw the construction of Scarborough General Hospital.
Over 30 years later when the doors opened to the Salvation Army Scarborough Grace General Hospital, a forward-thinking pledge was made on the cornerstone for “healing in body, mind, and spirit.”
In this Report, you will read about our combined 90 years of service to the Scarborough community through stories and a four-page timeline that highlights our history. You will also learn about the many accomplishments that have occurred over the past year, the fundraising efforts of our staff, physicians, and community donors, and the new roadmap for our hospital and the community of Scarborough.
