The Corporate Communications department plays an integral role in ensuring its communities – both internal and external – are educated, informed and involved with their hospital.

We work closely with the hospital’s programs and services, senior team, Board of Directors, Community Advisory Council, Foundation, elected officials, the media and the public to facilitate the sharing of timely, accurate information between our stakeholders in day-to-day operations, hospital initiatives and in times of crisis. The department also develops communication strategies to support the hospital’s mission, vision and values.

Working collaboratively with local, national and global media is a primary goal of the Corporate Communications department. Cultivating strong and respectful relationships with local, national and global news partners ensures that our communities receive the most current information that is accurate, transparent and timely.

Our staff and physicians are happy to engage with the media on a variety of health care and health system topics. However, all media requests must go through Corporate Communications. This is to ensure the reporter is connected with the most appropriate spokesperson, as well as to maintain patient privacy. Media personnel, including photographers and reporters, must be accompanied by a member of the Corporate Communications staff while on hospital property.

Corporate Identity

The hospital consists of two campuses, General and Birchmount, and six satellite sites. The correct name of the organization is The Scarborough Hospital, which should be used upon first reference. Following references may use the approved short form: TSH.

The logo conveys our corporate values – integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence – compass points by which we steer our day-to-day activities, and symbolizes an important new direction. The sun rising over the word Scarborough represents hope, optimism and progress. It conveys to all stakeholders that, at The Scarborough Hospital, it’s a new day. All parts of the logo must be used together at all times, and placed on a white background with visible surrounding white space.

For a copy of the logo, please contact David Belous, Interim Executive Director, Communications and Government Relations at

The Scarborough Hospital is committed to protecting the privacy of its patients. Therefore, we ask that media use the hospital photos provided below, which have been approved for distribution. For additional photos or if you would like to arrange a photo, please contact

TSH uses several social media platforms to interact, engage and build relationships with its online community. Participating in social media is also an effective and transparent way for TSH to connect with its community, as well as other hospitals and health care providers, to share news about the hospital on a larger scale and provide timely updates during an event or in times of crisis.

The hospital’s social media sites are operated by Corporate Communications, and we encourage you to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, connect with us on LinkedIn and check us out on YouTube.

Engaging our community is about building strong relationships and establishing a dialogue with our stakeholders. We are committed to keeping our community informed about hospital news, sharing proactive health information, providing forums for discussion and forging new relationships with our community partners and our global community.

We welcome invitations to speak at your meeting or event, and will do our best to accommodate topics of interest to your organization. For more information, please email us at

We also offer a free, bi-monthly electronic newsletter, My Scarborough Hospital, to proactively share information about your community hospital including programs, people and upcoming events.
