When it comes to the care at The Scarborough Hospital’s Birchmount campus, Sosi Bedrosian wouldn’t change a thing.
Her father, Warish Zakarian, was a patient here for seven and a half weeks and his family was so impressed with the care provided by the nurses, physicians and other staff that they sent a letter featuring 36 names to the CEO.
“I thought I would take this opportunity to extend our gratitude and sincere thanks to a large number of caregivers at your Birchmount campus who have been providing care to my father,” Sosi wrote.
Her 83-year-old father was admitted at the end of February following a fall that resulted in a hip fracture and the need for surgery. He was first hospitalized on 3A and then on 4A where the fantastic care continued.
“Those nurses are beautiful,” she said. “They were my dad’s angels.”
They also thanked Dr. David Black. While it’s been difficult on the family, the care provided definitely deserves recognition, Sosi said.
“In this business if you don’t care, you can’t do it,” she said. “They had such compassion for him.”
Sosi said the staff were caught off guard when she asked for their names and explained why.
“If I get a compliment at my work it makes me feel appreciated,” she explained. “Why wouldn’t I do that for them? I wanted them to be recognized because every day someone was taking care of my dad.”
