Make a difference in the health care in your community this giving season with a donation to The Scarborough Hospital Foundation.
Tuesday, November 29 marks Giving Tuesday 2016 – a national day of giving and volunteering.
Your support will help patients like Allan Binning, whose heart stopped four times in one day.
The care and support Allan and his wife Elaine received at The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) was, in Allan’s words – “second to none.”
After collapsing at his home, Allan was brought by ambulance to TSH. While at the hospital, his heart stopped four times and physicians quickly realized that Allan had an abnormal heart rhythm and required a pacemaker.
Although it was a stressful time, Allan calls it a privilege to have met many of TSH’s physicians, nurses, technicians, and support staff in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Diagnostic Imaging, and registration and clinical areas. Allan says he and Elaine were both met with kindness, thoughtfulness, reassurance, confidence, and professionalism.
“Not only were staff considerate of patients, they were also collegial and supportive of one another, and often quick to praise the qualities and skills of their colleagues,” said Allan. “This goes a long way in instilling confidence in a patient.”
Your support on Giving Tuesday and throughout this holiday season will help TSH continue to deliver outstanding health care to our global community.
